Frequently asked questions

Questions? I’ve got answers.

  • My rate is $120 / hr for individual sessions and $140 / hr for couples. The rate is subject to increase with experience and cost of living increases.

  • I offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments for those with financial needs. The sliding scale fee is limited to 6 Sessions.

  • I accept Medicaid, Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance, and Rocky Mountain Health Plans through Summit Psychotherapy. I also partner with Vail Resorts EAP as a preferred provider.

Keep in mind that using insurance requires a diagnosis and may limit the type of treatment I’m able to provide.

  • Yes, I work with Building Hope scholarships. I am also on the Mountain Strong platform for Eagle County.

If you are a Summit County resident you may apply for a Building Hope Scholarship to offset the initial cost of therapy. These scholarships are supported by grants and are in limited supply, so if you utilize a scholarship please be mindful of these resources. You can apply for a scholarship here.

  • I accept credit cards, checks, and cash. I see individuals using insurance through Summit Psychotherapy which is responsible for all insurance billing.

  • Appointment times are limited. If you must cancel your appointment, I request 24 hours’ notice. Missed appointments or appointments canceled within 24 hours’ notice will incur a fee equal to the cost of the session. In the event of a true, unavoidable emergency, all or part of your cancellation fee may be applied to a future session.

  • I see clients in-person in Frisco, CO, in Golden, CO, and through telehealth.

  • I’m located in Frisco, Colorado across the street from Butterhorn Bakery. My address is:

I also see clients on Tuesdays in Golden, Colorado with the Compass Healing Project.

  • We will address your goals for therapy, and we’ll cover your background. This will inform how we proceed in our time together.

We will also address consent paperwork and cover risks and protections. This first session will be comprehensive and will have less emphasis on the therapeutic process. Keep in mind that therapy is a process and we will need to establish a cohesive relationship to make the it work for you.

  • Let’s start with “it depends.” Unless you’ve been mandted to therapy, you are in charge of how long you wish to attend therapy.

I understand the financial and time pressures you are likely to face, so it is not feasible for many people to attend weekly therapy indefinitely. That is also not the point. Therapy is about growth, so indefinite therapy is counterproductive to the principles of therapy.

Initially, I recomend meeting weekly to develop the therapeutic relationship and determine a good path for therapeutic growth. If finances allow, weekly therapy is the most effective option and will take the least amount of time to notice measurable change. If finances do not support weekly therapy, I recommend meeting bi-weekly until you notice measurable change and have met your main goals. Meeting monthly is not conducive to therapeutic change but is useful for “maintenance.”

Please keep in mind that it is my personal goal to help you meet your goals swiftly, and the best way to do that is by being willing to do the hard work early on.
